Basant Panchami, also known as Saraswati Puja, is a Hindu festival celebrated to mark the arrival of spring. It falls on the fifth day (Panchami) of the bright half of the lunar month of Magha (January-February). Basant Panchami is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the Hindu deity of knowledge, wisdom, and arts. Devotees dress in yellow attire, decorate their homes and temples with yellow flowers, and offer prayers to Saraswati. It is customary for students to place their books and instruments before the goddess, seeking her blessings for success in education and creative pursuits. Basant Panchami also holds significance for farmers, who celebrate the onset of the agricultural season and pray for a bountiful harvest. The festival is often accompanied by cultural programs, including music, dance, and poetry recitations, celebrating the vibrancy and rejuvenation of nature.
