About Kojagiri Purnima
Kojagiri Purnima, also known as Sharad Purnima or Kojagiri Lakshmi Puja, is a Hindu festival celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashwin (September-October). It holds special significance in regions like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and West Bengal. The festival is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu deity of wealth and prosperity. Devotees observe various rituals and customs on Kojagiri Purnima. One common practice is the Kojagiri Lakshmi Vrat, where devotees fast from sunrise to moonrise and worship Goddess Lakshmi with prayers, offerings, and hymns. On this auspicious day, people often spend the night outdoors under the moonlight, known as Kojagiri Purnima Vrat, as it is believed to have special healing and rejuvenating properties. Special foods like kheer (sweet rice pudding) are prepared and consumed during the night vigil. Kojagiri Purnima is considered a time for spiritual purification, abundance, and prosperity. It is believed that observing the rituals with devotion can bring blessings of wealth, health, and happiness from Goddess Lakshmi.
