Deactivating or deleting your account

You can step away from Devalay for a while, or close your account for good. They are different, so choose carefully.

Deactivating your account

Deactivating hides your profile and your posts, and signs you out. Nothing is removed.

To come back, just sign in again. Your account, posts and followers return as they were.

  • On the website, open Settings and choose Deactivate account.
  • In the app (version 1.1.20 or later), open Settings and choose Deactivate account.

Deleting your account

Deleting closes your account permanently.

  • Straight away, you’re signed out everywhere, your profile, posts and comments are hidden, and your mobile number is released, so it can be used for a new account later.
  • Within 7 days, your name, photos, profile details, follows, likes and saved items are erased, the messages you sent are cleared, and your posts, glimpses and comments are removed. They’re permanently deleted within 30 days after that.
  • Records of orders, payments and donations are kept for as long as the law requires.

This can’t be undone: signing in with the same number afterwards starts a brand-new account.

  • On the website, open Settings and choose Delete account. If your account has a password, you’ll be asked for it. If it doesn’t, you’ll be asked to type DELETE to confirm.
  • In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account.

Not sure?

If you only want a break, deactivate. If something about your account is bothering you, send us a message first. We may be able to help.
