Comments, replies and messages

How you talk with people on Devalay matters as much as what you post. Comments, replies and messages should build trust and kindness.

What’s welcome

  • Comments: sincere appreciation, thoughtful questions and your own reflections.
  • Replies: keep a conversation going respectfully, even when you disagree.
  • Messages: genuine conversations, questions and collaborations.

If you wouldn’t say it in front of someone’s family, don’t type it here.

What to avoid

  • Abusive language: swearing, insults or name-calling.
  • Harassment: unwanted or repeated messages, or advances nobody asked for.
  • Mockery of anyone’s belief, tradition or way of life.
  • Spam: unrelated promotions or the same message again and again.
  • Picking fights: Devalay is for discovery and good will, not arguments.

Comments, replies and messages are checked automatically for abusive language, and a message that fails the check isn’t sent.

Consent and privacy

  • Don’t share someone’s messages without their permission.
  • Never pressure anyone for personal details or contact information.

If someone crosses a line

  • Report it. Open the menu on the post, comment, profile or message, choose Report and pick a reason. Our moderators review reports.
  • Block the account. Once you block someone, neither of you can message the other, including in conversations you already had.
  • Limit who can comment. In Settings, under Account privacy, you can let only your followers comment on your posts. This covers replies too.

Words can bless or bruise

Before you reply, pause and ask: will this uplift someone, or hurt them?
