Credit, copyright and plagiarism

Devalay depends on original, honest content. Whether you share a bhajan, a verse, a dance, a painting or a story, respect the rights of the people who made it.

What you can share

• Your own photos, videos and art.
• Verses and quotes from scripture, with the correct reference and some context.
• Images that are free to reuse, once you’ve checked that they are.
• Other people’s work, only with clear credit or their permission.

How to give credit

• Name the creator in your caption, for example “Art by Ravi Kala”.
• Tag the person or temple it came from where you can.
• Use words like “Source:”, “Credit:” or “Inspired by”.
• If you’re not sure you can share something, ask first.

What’s not allowed

• Posting someone else’s work as your own.
• Cropping out or removing a watermark.
• Downloading videos from other platforms and posting them without credit.
• Copying whole articles or long passages without explanation.
• Selling copies of someone else’s designs or prints.

Respecting where things come from

• If you quote a guru or saint, name them.
• If a mantra belongs to a lineage, say so.
• If you share a temple’s photograph, name the temple.

If this is broken

Work that breaks these rules can be removed, and repeated violations can lead to suspension. If someone has shared your work without permission, report the post, or write to us at contact@devalay.org.
